BBB M e m b e r

PAUL WINTER 1948-2001. The BBB dedicated its “Live at Forest Hills” CD to Paul Winter. Paul was a great musician, friend, and inspiration to the band. Paul is the featured alto sax soloist on “Harlem Nocturne,” which Paul recorded with the band just three weeks before he was taken from us by cancer. As you can imagine, he was very sick at that point, and it was through incredible strength and determination that he was able to leave this "gift" to his family and friends.

Playing with the big band was one of the things that really kept him going through his illness. He loved the weekly rehearsals, and we always tried to keep an exciting "gig" coming up on the schedule for him in order to keep him looking forward. He was a very kind and generous man, who left behind a very special wife, two teenage daughters, and a whole bunch of band members, co-workers, and friends who loved him. His funeral was the most difficult that the BBB has ever played.

Paul, a master carpenter, was well-known and respected in the community for his excellent craftsmenship. He also led a 4-H group of clowns for many years. We will miss him always.
